Products which carry the Fairtrade Mark (see top left of page) ensure that a guaranteed price is given to the food producers in developing countries like India and Africa. This ensures that the producers have better working conditions and an improved standard of living for themselves and their families.

There are many different Fairtrade products available including chocolate, tea, coffee, cocoa, sugar, dried fruit and nuts, biscuits, cereal bars, cakes and brownies, honey, jam, bananas, grapes, pineapples, mangoes, sweets, wine, beer, fruit juice, flowers, cotton t shirts, cotton wool, cotton towels and footballs. Although Wigan was awarded Fairtrade Town Status in February 2007, we still have much work to do, to maintain Fairtrade Status we need to increase Fairtrade availability in the borough. You can help either as a consumer or a business, please see our News page.
